These equipments are used for transporting heat-sensitive vaccines from one place to another. Cold Chain Equipments are used to have a pre-determined safe temperature range (-3 to + 10 C) for a particular period of time. The cold life period varies according to the product classifications made by WHO i.e. for large equipment like cold boxes, the cold life is high whereas for small equipment like vaccine carriers box the cold life requirement is less. WHO has formulated rigorous test procedures for maintenance of cold life and for overall strength of the equipment and its fittings, to withstand various rough field usage conditions.

This Box has a lid which is airtight and can be handled easily. Its body is very strong to manage all the hurdles during transportation. It is specifically used to carry vaccines and it maintains temperature during transportation. There are two products under this category namely:-

In the cold box the cooling procedure takes place and it functions in the ambient temperature. In the Cold Boxes heat exchangers are present and there are pipe inside the Cold Boxes which needs to be insulated. The material which is used for this purpose is plastic foam.
