Cold chain Equipments are used for storing heat sensitive vaccines. They play the most effective role if the vaccines have to be transported from the place of manufacturing to the place where they have to be stored and finally carries to the place of immunisation. These Equipments are effective to maintain particular temperature (-3 to + 10 C) which is necessary to store some special vaccines. They are used for maintaining a particular period known as cold life of the product. The cold life period varies as per the product classification created by World Health Organisation (WHO) i.e. for large equipments like cold box; the clod life is high whereas for same equipment like vaccine carries box, the life requirement is less.
WHO has determined rigorous test processes for maintenance of cold life and for overall strength of the equipment and its fittings, to withstand various rough field usage conditions.
Each of equipments is also passed through test like drop test covering 26 drops (all sides, corners and faces) of the box to ensure compliance with rigid WHO standards and requirements. WHO accords its approval only after successful clearance of all tests by the test laboratories.

Foot Operated Suction Pump
Foot Operated Suction pump is a foot operated, two-cylinder pump and uses treadles to engage both the operator's legs and full body weight. The Treadle pump is simple and efficient. If the pump is properly adjusted and maintained, the pump can be operated several hours a day without tiring the workers. The leg muscles, which are the most powerful of the human body, provide the power to drive the pump. In addition, the pump is operated in a natural way, as walking. With four hours of pumping per day, depending upon soil permeability and the water needs of the particular crop, the pump can irrigate up to 0.5 hectares of land in dry season.
The Treadle pump can raise water by suction and by pressure, just like a motorized centrifugal pump. It can raise water from a well when the water level is seven meters below ground level. It can also pump water through a distribution pipe. The pump can be operated by one or two adults. The total vertical distance the water can be pumped is limited by the total weight of the pump operators. If the pipe used with the pump is two smaller the pump is not maintained and adjusted properly, the pump will not be able to lift water this high and the work is likely to be tiring.
